Community development depends upon the community fabrics. CHPF as a non-profit entity has been and continues fabricating the community structures to better the lives of its programs. In our yearly programs we have a special program for the youths in Kilifi south sub-county Junju Ward.
One of the key area is achieving social economic activity programs which involves: having social groups for the youths for development. This year we are looking forward to having more activities for women as well.
Why social-economic?
For sustainability purposes, people have to be economically and socially empowered. We encourage young people to consolidate their synergies for their own good and that of the community. This is one way of eradicating poverty and crime scenarios that are always linked to the young generation.
Peer to peer groups also creates avenues for having a more cohesive community since young people have the capacity to change perceptions and enhance creative means of problems solving.
We currently have two working youth groups from our catchment areas that is:
- Bomani which consolidates youths from Kireme, Timboni, Pale Pale, Bomani center and Madiga villages.
- Bodoi which includes, Bodoi village and Mirima Minne villages.
Through these two groups, we have been able to assess the community needs and a number of intervention programs are underway to address them. The challenges ranges from, social to economic. CHPF also facilitates exchange programs as well for youths from various areas coming together to share ideas, challenges and opportunities to be explored.
We have the strategy of monthly meeting where we meet and do follow ups and gaps identification. Our donors continues working tirelessly for the good of the people in our catchment and we can’t take it for granted.
We do emphasize on collaborative efforts for change. “Youths are the future of our society and must be capacitated.’’
