Day 2 of the East African Region Global Health Security Summit 2025 ongoing in Mombasa Pride-Inn hotel.
Community Health Promotion Fund (CHPF) as a key stakeholder in the health system was today well represented in the summit by the Programs manager Addah Alela, the SRHR project manager Juliana Mwaega and Joseph Matalanga.
The summit, is a significant event for health security in East Africa, aiming to enhance preparedness and response to health threats, underscoring the importance of regional cooperation in global health security.
The guest of the day was former president of the Republic of Kenya Rt. Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta EGH. In his speech, he emphasized on the need to have a robust collaboration among stakeholders as a way to address the key challenges in the health sector in East Africa and the entire continent.
He further called upon the East African states and the entire continent to have a framework of dealing with local issues other than depending on foreign aids which keeps diminishing due to foreign policy shifts and political dynamics.
“In order to achieve UHC, We must collaborate and have a framework as A Country, region and continent” he said.
Dr. Debra Mulongo, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, was also present, indicating high-level governmental involvement in promoting health initiatives and policies across East Africa.
Other stakeholders include, WHO country Director, the international organizations, East Africa Ministers for Health, dignitaries from various states in Africa and local development partners and organizations.
As an organization we live to support the community and the government in achieving the goal. We are organized and packaged to drive the 3rd SDG goal on equal access to healthcare by all. This is actualized by our intervention programs on having preventive and promotive healthcare programs in the community. CHPF is a leading Non-Governmental organization in the coastal region as per now striving to promote primary healthcare in the community.
