Health: CHPF-SRHR Community-Centered Approach

At Community Health Promotion Fund (CHPF), we are deeply committed to addressing the often-overlooked topic of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). In many communities, conversations around SRHR remain limited due to cultural taboos, stigma, and lack of access to accurate information. We believe that these barriers must be broken if we are to promote healthier and more empowered communities.

Through our SRHR project, we are creating safe, inclusive spaces where young people can engage in open dialogue, access accurate information, and participate in peer-to-peer learning sessions. These forums not only help to normalize conversations around reproductive health but also empower youth with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their well-being.

During this recent holiday season, our dedicated SRHR team traversed all 12 project catchment areas to conduct targeted outreach activities. These sessions focused on raising awareness about sexual health, bodily autonomy, healthy relationships, and reproductive rights. One of the key highlights of this outreach was the distribution of sanitary pads to underserved girls. By addressing menstrual hygiene needs, we aim to eliminate one of the many barriers that prevent girls from fully participating in school and community life. Access to menstrual products is not just a health issue — it’s a matter of dignity, education, and equality.

We also acknowledge the vital role that parents and guardians play in shaping the attitudes and decisions of young people. For this reason, our outreach efforts deliberately included parental engagement sessions. By involving families in these conversations, we promote a sense of collective responsibility and foster environments where young people feel supported both at home and in the community.

At CHPF, we are proud of the strides we are making toward a future where reproductive health is openly discussed, respected, and prioritized. Together, we are building informed, empowered, and resilient communities — one conversation at a time.
