CHPF and Baraka Health Net Conduct Refresher Course for Community Health Promoters

At CHPF, we believe that strong, healthy communities begin with empowered and well-informed health workers. In line with this belief, CHPF—together with our valued partners at Baraka Health Net—recently conducted a two-day refresher course for Community Health Promoters (CHPs) within our catchment area.

This initiative marks a key step in our ongoing mission to reinforce Primary Health Care (PHC) at the grassroots level and ensure our CHPs are equipped with up-to-date knowledge, skills, and tools to meet the evolving health needs of our communities.

🩺 Why the Refresher Course Was Needed

The health sector is constantly evolving, with new diseases, emerging technologies, and shifting public health policies. For CHPs—who serve as the first point of contact for many community members—keeping pace with these changes is essential.

The refresher course was designed to:

✅ Update CHPs on current trends and emerging health issues
✅ Enhance their skills in health education, surveillance, and referrals
✅ Strengthen their ability to mobilize communities and promote behavior change
✅ Reignite their passion and reinforce the critical role they play in the healthcare system

  • Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health and rights as well as famaily planning
  • Nutrition and Hygiene Promotion
  • Community Health Data Collection & Reporting
  • First Aid and Emergency Response

Interactive sessions encouraged peer learning, scenario-based exercises, and open discussions on challenges faced in the field.

🌍 Why This Matters

CHPF identifies Community Health Promoters are the unsung heroes of our health system. They:

  • Educate households on healthy living 🏡
  • Identify and report early signs of disease outbreaks ⚠️
  • Support mothers and children in accessing critical health services 👩🏽‍🍼
  • Bridge the gap between the community and health facilities 🏥

By investing in their growth and wellbeing, we strengthen the very foundation of our health system—and bring health services closer to where people live and work.

🤝 Special Thanks

We extend our deepest gratitude to Baraka Health Net for their unwavering support and collaboration. Their commitment to community health has made a lasting impact.

To our CHPs: thank you for your resilience, dedication, and heart for service. You are making a real difference, every single day.
