Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education and intervention plans towards sustainably reducing teenage pregnancies and accessibility of sexual reproductive health services to youths and teenagers in the community. In full realization of this Community Health Promotion Fund through the SRHR project on Youth and Adolescents has and continues to carry out activities to address this challenge.
Why do we issue sanitary pads? We do this so that we put a smile on the face of the girl child from vulnerable families who don’t have an access to it. By doing so we eliminate or rather reduce the teenage pregnancy since lack of these basic necessities has contributes a lot. According to the Kilifi county Technical Working Group statistics there has been increase in the number of teen pregnancies and we as an organization we fight hard to ceiling the gap.
Lack of information is another aspect and as a an organization CHPF through the SRHR project has a solid intervention plan which includes the, Peer to Peer learning session and the involvement of parents in the strategic dialogues to discuss this vital issue. Peer to peer learning encourages openness thus elevating the self-esteem of the teenagers and the youth in this category. Parents having strategic dialogues is an eye opener to those less informed about the concept on Sexual Reproductive Health. This also help in guiding the community in coming up with the framework to address the challenges facing youths and adolescents.
In the month of April 2025 we managed to distribute pads to about 800 girls each getting 8 pieces across our catchment areas which includes; Mtwapa primary school, Mavueni Primary school,Musmarini secondary school, Mtomondon secondary school, Mtomondoni primary school,Ng’ombeni secondary school, St Teresa’s secondary school, chodari primary, bungu primary, Mbuyuni primary, Mkwajuni primary and Kireme primary SCHOOL. Our pads distribution targets the vulnerable girls at least 50 per catchment area. For sustainability we keep encouraging positive parenting and responsibility by parents.
