Advancing Community Health Through Information: CHPF and NCMTC Expands HIPs in Kilifi South

In line with its mission to empower communities through accessible health education and preventive care, the Community Health Promotion Fund (CHPF), in collaboration with North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC) and the Ministry of Health, continues to scale up Health Information Points (HIPs) across schools in Kilifi South. This initiative directly contributes to the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by ensuring that communities have equitable access to reliable health information—an essential pillar in achieving better health outcomes for all.

The establishment of HIPs in Kolewa, Barani, Mtepeni, and Mtomondoni reflects CHPF’s vision of building healthier, informed, and self-reliant communities. Strategically positioned within schools, these HIPs serve as community-centered platforms where learners, families, and surrounding populations can access accurate, timely, and practical health information. By bridging the information gap, the initiative empowers individuals to make informed health choices, adopt preventive practices, and actively participate in safeguarding their well-being.

During a recent engagement at Mtomondoni Primary School, the CHPF team interacted with key education stakeholders from Kilifi County, reinforcing the critical link between health and education. This collaboration underscores the importance of integrated approaches in advancing community health, particularly among young people who are key agents of change within their communities.

By strengthening preventive healthcare, promoting health literacy, and enhancing community participation, this partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing the UHC agenda. CHPF remains steadfast in its commitment to breaking barriers to healthcare access and ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward healthier communities.
